Fairmined gold foundry castoffs ring
Fairmined gold foundry castoffs ring
Usually, when a goldsmith manipulates metal, it is with the intent of turning it into an ornament. In Aurum, intervention is minimal, and the material is treated in its purest state. In this case, it is Fairmined gold (obtained from small-scale artisanal mining organisations, mindful of the environment and fair labour conditions).
The artist selects the foundry's leftovers, the pliers' pinches on the metal, the castoffs, and all that which has no formal value for jewellery to resignify them, thus questioning the very sense of its worth in market logic. In the face of a jewel-devoted audience, the artist proposes to interpret and relocate it to a space different from the consumer. To produce astonishment at being unable to identify what is observed and valued.
Please note that these images are for reference only. Every jewel in this series is unique, handmade with leftover foundry meticulously chosen, always slightly varying as a result.

FAIRMINED GOLD
FAIRMINED GOLD
The 18-karat gold in this piece is Fairmined—ethically sourced gold that does not harm the environment and respects the labor rights of the miners who work in its mines.
The Fairmined certification is awarded by ARM (Asociación por la Minería Responsable) in Latin America. Mines under this certification are audited annually and meet strict standards that ensure responsible extraction.
Together with the collective Origen – Gold For Future, Teresa Estapé champions jewelry that embraces environmentally respectful practices and social values, working with ethical materials sourced from responsible mining and fair trade circuits.
