Teresa Estapé maintains a cross-disciplinary practice as a visual artist and jeweler, using these fields in a heterodox manner to explore notions of identity and value in contemporary society.
Her work begins with materials — elements by which she feels deeply compelled — and through extensive research, she manipulates each one in ways that differ from, or even oppose, conventional use. In doing so, she re-signifies them, questioning their function while recovering embedded symbols and meanings.
Her work is included in the collections of MACBA in Barcelona, the Museo del Traje in Madrid, the Colección Ochoa Foster, and the Banco de España Collection. Her practice has been presented in solo and group exhibitions through the gallery that represents her, Chiquita Room, including at the 2023 and 2026 editions of ARCOmadrid, as well as at the Museo Geominero (Madrid), Cloud Seven (Brussels), Kunst Haus Wien (Vienna), Bernhard Bischoff (Bern), University of Tsukuba (Tokyo), Arts Santa Mònica, and the Goethe-Institut (Barcelona).
Her artworks and jewelry pieces are handmade in her own studio or produced in collaboration with specialized artisan workshops across Spain, following ethical practices and using certified materials and metals.
She is also part of "Colectivo Origen", which, together with Medicus Mundi, promotes responsible jewelry-making practices and the use of ethically sourced metals.
All of these lines of work converge in her Barcelona atelier — a space where different bodies of work are exhibited and coexist alongside the objects that shape her visual universe and sources of inspiration.
