With an Art Deco aesthetic and a child of the interwar period, the snake chain is a small prodigy of the mechanisation and sophistication of chain-making machines at the beginning of the 20th century.
Snake is constructed using an intricate internal gearing system that gives it flexibility and technical elegance. It draws on the futuristic aesthetics of the 1920s and 1930s, symbolising progress, order, urban life and machinery.
The snake chain used to make these rings is supplied by a leading German company founded in 1904, which at the time had already developed automatic chain-making machines to enable production in line with its standards.
